Throwback Thursday: A look back at those Cup Crazy days

Local News

If you are a Sabres fan – you were cheering on your team in the Stanley Cup final 20 years ago.  The Sabres took on the Stars in 1999 in a series that would end with Brett Hull’s skate in the crease during the Stars Cup winning goal in Game 6 triple overtime.   Ever since, Sabres fans have declared it as “No Goal!”

News Four’s Jacquie Walker was in Dallas covering Games 1 and 2 from the fans’ perspective.  She remembers the city’s subdued reaction to the Stars’ Stanley Cup bid and the ready availability of tickets at the box office before Game 1. But, most of all, she remembers the prevailing attitude in the big ‘D’ that stemmed from the Cowboys back-to-back wins over the Bills in their Super Bowl matchups.  Many fans seemed to think that Dallas could beat anyone from Buffalo, no matter what the sport!
