BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB)- It’s a case of the murder suspect becoming the murder victim thirty six hours later.
Residents of the Sheridan Parkside neighborhood were shaken Sunday night when 34 year old Anthony Stallworth of Buffalo was gunned down on Blackmore Street in the Town of Tonawanda.
“It’s not a great neighborhood, but it’s not the worst either.” said James Williams who moved out of the neighborhood a few months ago for unrelated reasons.”Maybe someone gets in a drunken fist fight every now and then, and then like you hear neighbors, something like that, but a shooting…that doesn’t happen.”
Town of Tonawanda Police say that case is very sensitive, and still under investigation. Sources tell News 4 that the prime suspect in that murder, 22 year old Damon Hall was himself gunned down a day and a half later, Tuesday afternoon across from the Broadway Market. We’re told that Hall had ties to the so called LRGP Gang on the East Side, and that dispute had something to do with a fight with knives the week before.
As Buffalo Police now search for Hall’s killer, Buffalo Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda wants to make residents aware that these are not random crimes, and neither was the other murder on Tuesday. Juan Ortiz Santiago was killed in his Niagara Street barber shop, but police say he was targeted by another man, and it had nothing to do with the other violence.
Derenda says overall crime is still down in Buffalo this year. From time to time, there are spikes in violence and that’s just what this is, but the Police Department is working hard to address it.”
