48-year-old Jennifer Serrano pleaded not guilty in Darien Town Court Thursday to Vehicular Manslaughter and Leaving the Scene of an Injury Accident, both felonies.

Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputies allege that Serrano struck and killed 18-year-old Connor Lynskey Saturday morning near Darien Lake State Park. According to deputies, Lynskey was leaving a concert and walking towards his campsite.

News 4 learned Serrano was arrested and released for a DWI the same night as the crash.

Investigators said Serrano almost hit a deputy’s vehicle while driving on Alleghany Road in the Town of Darien. This reportedly occurred at 1a.m.

Deputies said Lynskey was likely struck around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, 30 minutes before Serrano was arrested for DWI.

Lynskey, an aspiring doctor according to his family, was from Hinckley, New York. His family has started a scholarship fund in his honor. Donations can be made via mail to:

Serrano will remain at the Genesee County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail.

Her next court date is Sept. 20.

If convicted, she’s facing up to seven years in prison.
