Town of Hamburg Police Captain Christopher Monaco was arrested last Sunday after an alleged domestic disturbance at his home on Bender Court after receiving a 911 hang-up call.
Officials say, on Saturday, May 11 at 11:30 p.m. they responded to Monaco’s home where he attempted to prevent the officers from conducting their investigation by ordering his wife, the victim, not to give a statement.
Monaco was charged with obstructing governmental administration.
He was arraigned earlier this week in the Town of Hamburg Justice Court where he pleaded not guilty.
Monaco is scheduled to return to court on June 13 for further proceedings.
An order of protection was not issued by the judge on behalf of the victim and he was released on his own recognizance.
The case is still being investigated and Monaco is currently suspended without pay.
If convicted he faces a maximum of a year in jail.
