An Amish buggy was involved in a crash in Chautauqua County Friday morning.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office went to the scene on Route 340 in Hartfield around 8:40 a.m.

They say another vehicle was headed east on the road when it struck the buggy and horse, which were also going east.

The driver told authorities he was blinded by the sun and didn’t see the buggy, which was destroyed.

The buggy operator was treated for a leg injury, and the horse suffered cuts and bruises, but is expected to survive.

The driver also suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The crash closed down Route 340 for about 45 minutes.
