FORESTVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Buffalo News reports that residents of Forestville have voted to “dissolve the village” in a 137 to 97 vote. The village itself has 425 people registered to vote.
The Town of Hanover will reportedly take over the village’s government operations.
Chautauqua County Legislator George Borello says, “Now that the voters in Forestville have asked for change, the task of a consolidation plan will begin. It is my hope that the village and the Town of Hanover will begin their due diligence as soon as possible.”
The Buffalo News says the Village Board will come up with a plan and that they have “about one year” to do so.
Tax rates for Forestville villagers are reportedly expected to drop from “$13.69 per $1,000 of assessed true value” to $6.20.
