HOLLAND, N.Y. (WIVB) — A member of the Holland Central School District Board of Education has been charged with a number of crimes, including rape.

New York State police say 46-year-old Scott Wander forcibly touched and had sex with a 16-year-old while on a boat outing on Rushford Lake. Police say this incident occurred in June 2020.

Along with forcible touching and third-degree rape, Wander has been charged with sexual misconduct, endangering the welfare of a child and unlawfully dealing with a child.

Wander’s campaign letter for his position on the school board states he’s a 1993 graduate of Holland High School and employed as the emergency medical services director for UBMD.

After a virtual arraignment, Wander was released. He’s scheduled to appear in Town of Rushford Court in August. Wander has been issued a full stay away order of protection.

Holland Central School District Superintendent Cathy Fabiatos and Board President Brian Jones released the following statement:

“The Holland Central School District recently became aware of criminal allegations against a member of the Board of Education. The District’s investigation into this matter is ongoing, but at this point, the District stresses there is no evidence any of the allegations involve any Holland Central School District student, nor any alleged act on Holland Central School District property.  The District’s Resource Officer is aware of the allegations and the District will cooperate with law enforcement, if requested. Out of respect for the criminal investigation and process, the District will not provide any further statement.”
