WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) — “It is interesting the people who are regular mosque goers who are part of the community, they don’t commit that kind of crime it is the people who are on the edges, people who slip through,” said Faizan Haq, WNY Muslims Founder.

Faizan Haq. the Founder of WNY Muslims, says the actions of Omar Mateen are not indicative of all Muslims across the country. A day after the deadly mass shooting in Orlando, presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump reinforced his proposal to ban all Muslims from entering the U.S.

“We now have proposals from the presumptive Republican nominee for President of the United States to bar all Muslims from immigrating to America, you hear language that singles out immigrants and suggests entire religious communities are complacent in violence. where does this stop,” said President Obama.

“The Muslim community has people who are mentally disturbed. and this incident may happen, but does that mean that one mentally disturbed person, I mean what kind of logic is that? One mentally disturbed person does something stupid really stupid and really hurtful, and that thing is why the whole community is responsible we’re going to stop this community from coming or going anywhere. this is a Nazi kind of thinking,” said Haq.

Haq says that the term radical Islam does not solve any problems, and he says if a ban on Muslim people ever becomes a reality it would compromise the very essence of what America stands for.

“It’s a matter of consistently working day in and day out with the Muslim community with the Muslim countries and the law enforcement agencies. and all people of all backgrounds, radicalization and reactionary extremism is taking place in all places in all religions,” said Haq.
