GENESEE COUNTY, N.Y. (WIVB) - A young dog is recovering in the care of a foster family as the Genesee County Sheriff's Office looks for whoever is responsible for suspected animal abuse.
The county's animal shelter told News 4 the puppy, Opal, was found on the side of Route 33 and Prole Road outside of Batavia.
Opal was thin and malnourished.
The other examples of animal cruelty that stood out to investigators were the sores on her paws and that she smelled of feces and urine.
The Genesee Sheriff's Office is asking anyone to come forward with information about this case.
