Memorial service to be held for Louise Slaughter

The House of Representatives will honor the life of Congresswoman Louise Slaughter on Wednesday.

A memorial service will be held in the afternoon at National Statuary Hall in Washington D.C.

Rep. Slaughter served parts of upstate New York for more than three decades and was the first woman in history to chair the House Committee on Rules.

Slaughter died last month at age 88.
