24 YEARS AGO: The infamous O.J. Simpson white Bronco chase

(WIVB) - 24 years ago, O.J. Simpson led police in a low speed chase on a Los Angeles freeway in the now infamous white Ford Bronco.

Simpson had been a person of interest in the murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and Ron Goldman.

The nation watched as the former Bills running back led police on a 75 mile chase on Interstate 405.

CBS news reports an estimated 95 million people across the country watched some or all of the car chase.

Simpson and Al Cowlings surrendered in Simpsons driveway almost 2 hours after the chase began.

Simpson was acquitted in the murder of Brown Simpson and Goldman in the criminal trial.

He was later found guilty in the civil trial, being ordered to pay more than $33 million to the victims' families.

Back in October 2017, Simpson was released from jail.

He had been serving nine years behind bars for an armed robbery in Las Vegas.

The infamous Bronco is currently on display at Alcatraz East Crime Museum in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
