The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office is giving a boost to a local community college.
The president of Niagara County Community College and Niagara County Sheriff Jim Voutour signed and agreement Tuesday which will ensure an off-duty sheriff’s deputy will be available to patrol the campus, and step in to enforce the law if needed.
“You’re not just getting a deputy sheriff, you’re getting an entire sheriff’s office,” Voutour said. “When that guy steps foot on this campus, he has access to our investigators, our drug task force, our forensic lab, everything that goes with a police department he has access to.”
The agreement is part of the college’s new campus-wide public safety model.
