New law extends statute of limitations for rape victims

(WIVB) — More rape victims in New York will have additional time to seek justice.

Gov. Cuomo signed a law extending the statute of limitations for second-degree rape from five years to 20 years, and from five years to 10 years for third-degree rape.

The law also gives victims up to 20 years to bring civil suits against their attackers.
