UPDATE: The Niagara Falls City Council voted on the ordinance Wednesday evening. It passed with a vote of 5-0.
ORIGINAL: It could soon be illegal in Niagara Falls to leave your dog outside, unattended during extreme weather conditions.
This proposed ordinance is like the one passed in Buffalo in December.
It would make it illegal for any dog to be outside for long periods of time in temperatures below 32 degrees or above 90 degrees.
This ordinance would be enforced by police and any animal control officer.
According to the ordinance, Dog owners could face up to 15 days in jail and up to a $1,000 fine.
