A power plant that has been shut down for years in Dunkirk will not be revived.
NRG Energy has been working on repowering the plant since 2016.
They closed earlier that year.
NRG pulled out of the project because it would cost too much to bring the plant online.
People living in Dunkirk won’t feel an immediate impact because, according to officials, there is $45 million set aside to offset the losses.
The company responded, saying they appreciate the support of Dunkirk and the Chautauqua County community.
