The New York Times thinks that a change is needed in Albany.

The paper endorsed Jumaane Williams for Lieutenant Governor on Thursday.

The Times referred to current Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul as “little more than an echo” to Governor Andrew Cuomo.

The Governor did receive the paper’s endorsement for his party’s primary.

“We have endorsed Mr. Cuomo for governor in the Democratic primary, while arguing that he is likely to act aggressively against systemic corruption in Albany only if reformers continue to pressure him,” said the Times.

The paper believes Williams, a New York City Councilman, can be a person who could presser Cuomo.

Prior to serving as the Governor’s Number 2, Hochul spent one term as a U.S. Congresswoman and also served as the Erie County Clerk.

Primary day for the State of New York is on September 13th.
