Paramedic arrested for allegedly stealing prescription drugs from Tonawanda Police HQ

A Town of Tonawanda paramedic was accused of stealing various prescription drugs from the drug deposit container located in the Town of Tonawanda Police Headquarters, according to Tonawanda Police Lt. Thomas Haynes. 

According to Haynes, the alleged theft by Jeremy Pecoraro were done to support [an] opiate addiction. Haynes said it is believed that [Pecoraro was] keeping the drugs for personal use rather than selling them.

Another paramedic is under investigation, but has not been arrested.

Pecoraro was arrested Friday evening by Town of Tonawanda police on suspicion of criminal possession of a controlled substance. 

According to the news release, Town of Tonawanda Police Departmental policy requires that two paramedics empty out the prescription drug collection bin together.

According to Haynes, Cinelli has worked as a Town of Tonawanda Paramedic for twenty-two and a half years. Pecoraro has worked as a Town of Tonawanda Paramedic for the past four and a half years.

Tonawanda Police said both paramedics have been suspended pending termination proceedings.
