Pink hair extension offered at local salon to benefit breast cancer research

News

The color pink. By itself doesn’t mean much, but in the month of October, it stands for a whole lot more.

Lox Salon is located on Main street in Snyder. It’s one of the many businesses this month taking part in keeping breast cancer research and breast cancer awareness at the forefront.

Owner of the salon, Kindra Imhof, told News 4, “This month with everything that we’re featuring, we have a gift basket to win, we also have the 5 dollar donation extension, and were giving away a makeover.”

The ideas are unique. Staff personally touched by the disease came up with them after thinking creatively during a staff meeting. Imhof said, “I think it’s close to everyone’s heart here in the salon. My aunt Carol, she’s a survivor, my brothers girlfriends mother is currently fighting. I think we have so many family members and friends in the community that are dealing with this right now.”

With loved ones in mind they are putting hair extensions in, one at a time, on willing customers including myself. Imhof said, “This year we thought the pink extensions would be something fun to do and it’s real hair so you can curl it, wash it, treat it as your own.”

The best part is it’s quick and its safe. She shared, “It takes about 2 minutes to put the extension in your hair. It’s called an i-tip extension. It’s a little silicone bead and we press it between your hair and the extension.”

They’ve been able to do this in the past with success. They figure if they push it a bit further his year they might be able to raise even more for the cause. That’s where the makeover comes into play. They’re asking clients to nominate someone they know impacted by the disease to win. It includes a haircut, hair color, and makeup application with all chemical free products. All of the proceeds raised this month will be going to the breast cancer research foundation.
