Sabres outlast Red Wings, win 9th straight

Tage Thompson dazzled to help keep the Sabres in line for a ninth straight victory, while Sam Reinhart made the sure their winning streak continued, as Buffalo outlasted Detroit for a 3-2 shootout victory Saturday night.

Buffalo’s current nine game winning streak is second only to 2006 team, which won the first 10 games of the 2006-2007 season.

With the win, the Blue & Gold are also in sole possession of the Atlantic Division.

Jeff Skinner continued to be a goal scoring machine, netting his 18th of the season to give Buffalo a 1-0 lead in the first period.

It would be 1-1 in the third period until  Thompson tallied his third goal in four games.

The have a chance to tie a franchise record with their 10th straight win Tuesday when they host the Sharks.
