Schumer looking for funding to clean up Lewiston nuclear waste site

Senator Chuck Schumer says there’s still nuclear waste in Niagara County and believes the site should have been cleaned up four years ago.

During a press conference in Lewiston today, Schumer announced he’s pushing for more than $205 million to clean up the site.

The money would come from the federal government which he believes is responsible for making the mess in the first place.

He says Lewiston’s Niagara Falls storage site houses dangerous nuclear waste and sits within a mile of an elementary school.
