Several suspected illegal immigrants arrested in Grand Island

GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WIVB) — Several alleged illegal immigrants were arrested by U.S. Border Patrol agents in Grand Island Wednesday.

Seven people were arrested. One of the seven arrested is a Mexican national and a convicted sex offender who had already been deported once, officials say.

A witness says she saw Border Patrol agents arrest a man in Rite Aid. The witness says she saw the man go to the bathroom and then five minutes later at least five Border Patrol agents arrested him.

“A few minutes later is when all these Border Patrol people started coming in and they walked right up to the bathroom and got him and escorted him out in handcuffs. He was looking down at the floor very silent, he wasn’t making eye contact with anybody,” said Lisarenee Guagliano, witness.

Guagliano told News 4 she saw Border Patrol agents at a few other locations in Grand Island prior to the Rite Aid arrest.

The Department of Homeland Security says the raid is not political and the arrests have nothing to do with the Trump Administration.

On Monday, 23 people were arrested by Border Patrol agents in a Hamburg raid.

News 4 will provide more details as soon as they become available.
