The SPCA Serving Erie County is offering a new program, offering kids aged six to 15 the chance to read aloud to adoptable animals.

The “Tales for Two” program offers the animals increased socialization and reduced stress levels and a chance for kids to work on their literacy and reading skills, as well as self-esteem building.

A $40 registration fee will cover six weeks of reading sessions at the SPCA’s West Seneca shelter on Wednesday evenings.

Kids can bring their favorite books along, or select one from the shelter’s offerings.

The first session starts Nov. 14, and future start dates are Dec. 26 and Feb. 6.

To register, call SPCA Director of Humane Education Christine Davis at  716-875-7360, ext. 262.

The SPCA is also adding a Vacation Day Camp and School Break camps to its calendar. For more information, click here.
