Spectrum is beginning to pay New York customers back with one-time credits

If you get your internet service from Charter-Spectrum, you may want to take an extra glance at your March billing statement.

The cable and internet provider says it will be rolling out a one-time credit to customers as part of a fraud settlement with the state.

In a statement, Senior Director of Communications at Charter Communications Lara Pritchard said:

“We are issuing credits to certain eligible customers in New York State, in accordance with our agreement with the New York Attorney General regarding the former Time Warner Cable. Customers should check their March statements. All info will be communicated to eligible customers.”

The refund component of the settlement is $62.5 million which was the total settlement amount with the state.

According to former New York Attorney General, about 700,000 active Charter customers were in line for a $75 refund. Of that group, 150,000 customers are set to get an extra $75, leading to a total refund of $150.
