BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Nationally, the average price of gas is lower than it was a year ago, but it's a different story in New York.
Across the state, including here in Buffalo, the average gas price for Dec. 6 is higher than it was at this time in 2017.
Last year in Buffalo, the average price for that date was $2.65 per gallon. This year's price jumped 21 cents.
Batavia saw the same increase, with an average price of $2.82 for Dec. 6, 2018.
Rochester's average price went up too, but only by 16 cents.
Average price changes for other parts of the state can be found in the chart above.
"Globally, crude supply is growing faster than anticipated. Contributing to the surplus is the United States’ record-breaking production levels – which hit the highest level ever recorded by the Energy Information Administration at 11.7 million b/d last month," AAA says.
The national average price for Dec. 6 is $2.44, almost a nickel less than last year and a record low for 2018.
