Over the past nine days, historic avalanche activity has been happening in Colorado, and experts say it’s not over yet.
The state experiences about 2,500 avalanches per year, and so far this year, that number has already been surpassed.
More than 500 avalanches have been reported over the last nine days, and more are on the way.
Avalanche forecaster Ray Mumford says Colorado is still “very much in the middle of this.”
Crews performed avalanche mitigation operations through Summit County over the weekend.
