BROCTON, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Chautauqua County teenager is behind bars Friday after police say he lied to them about a hit and run accident.
New York State Troopers arrested 19-year-old Nathan Harriger Thursday after an investigation which spanned several months. Police say in February they received a report of a hit and run accident in Portland. Harriger allegedly told police he was hit by a pickup truck as he walked down a road with headphones in. Harriger was treated for bruised ribs at Dunkirk’s Brooks Memorial Hospital.
Police say a recent development showed Harriger bruised his ribs in an earlier fall. He was charged with third degree falsely reporting an incident and making a false written statement. He’ll return to court on April 21.
