UB football team helps “sack hunger”

News

The UB Football team’s great play this year is helping to “sack hunger” in the offseason.

Head Coach Lance Leipold, Athletic Director Mark Alnutt and other team members delivered 36 sacks of food at the Price Rite on Maple Rd. in Amherst.

All that food will eventually go to the New Beginnings food pantry. This is part of western New York’s effort to tackle hunger in the community.

“Hopefully it’s a situation where it’s the beginning of something that we can build upon and continue to be more visible here in Amherst and our own communities,” Leipold said.

PriceRite is donating one “sack” of food for every sack the UB defense racked up last season.
