(KSNT) – News 4’s sister station KSNT Reporter Katya Leick was hard at work on a story in Fort Riley on Tuesday but the cicadas around her caused her some complications.
After a 17-year slumber, the sight and sounds of the creepy crawly cicada has returned to the North Central Kansas region . It has been more than a decade but the creatures have awakened from their deep beauty sleep.
The last time residents of this area had to endure the noisy bugs, Bill Clinton was president, and “Titanic” won the award for best Academy Picture.
Experts say there is no reason to be afraid of cicadas; they don’t harm people and only contribute minor damage to tree branches.
