A wintry mix of snow and sleet hit roads in Western New York during the morning commute and got things off to a slow start today.
In several places like Delaware Avenue, slick road conditions made it a slow-go with bumper to bumper traffic for drivers.
The snow and sleet also caused slippery conditions on highways like the 290.
AAA of WNY is reminding drivers to take caution, plan ahead, and drive slow.
“You’re not going to get anywhere quickly today so don’t even attempt that. Make sure you take extra time to get to your destination. You’re going to need to leave extra space between you and the vehicle in front of you so you have that ability to stop on these slick conditions and at the same time you need to go slower on these icy conditions as well,” said Elizabeth Carey, AAA of WNY Director of Public Relations.
A winter weather advisory is in effect across Western New York until 10 o’clock Tuesday tonight.
In addition to a messy commute on the roads, a lot of flights at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport have also either been canceled or delayed.
