Two teenagers arrested after Woman was struck by firework in Dunkirk

DUNKIRK, N.Y. (WIVB) — UPDATE: Following the investigation, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office says an 18-year-old Amherst woman and 19-year-old Buffalo man were allegedly lighting projectile fireworks.

One of those fireworks hit the 58-year-old woman causing injuries.

Deputies say both the 18-year-old and 19-year-old were arrested for Second-degree Reckless Endangerment and will appear in Town of Pomfret Court at a later date.

ORIGINAL: A 58-year-old woman was injured in a fireworks accident in Dunkirk Thursday night.

The Sheriff’s Office says this happened on Bayshore Dr. around 10:15 p.m.

They say she was struck by a firework that had been lit by a neighbor. She was taken to ECMC.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
