Youth across New York State have declared Saturday, Oct 13 as the second annual “Seen Enough Tobacco Day,” a day aimed at protecting children from the billions of dollars of tobacco marketing in places visible to children.

According to the U.S. Surgeon General, young people who see consistent tobacco marketing are more likely to start smoking.

The nonprofit group Reality Check will be holding events across the state to help raise awareness for the dangers of tobacco, including pop-up “birthday parties” to represent the average age of a new smoker, cigarette butt cleanups, and educational activities.

Community members can show their support for the day by sharing photos on social media using #SeenEnoughTobacco or visiting www.SeenEnoughTobacco.org
