After rushing for 2,118 yards and 19 touchdowns as a junior, Bryce Love’s production dropped off drastically this past season.
The Stanford standout ran for 739 yards and scored just six times. Add in the fact he tore his ACL in the season finale in December and Love has gone from a day one or two prospect to likely being selected on day three as a late round pick.
“Everybody always says that they’re ahead of the game,” Love said at the NFL combine. “In my mind I truly am. I feel great, I’m excited about where I am and, as of right now, the timetable is to be ready by mid-training camp.”
With Love likely in a situation where he’ll have to continue his rehab and development, should the Bills take a flier on the running back, he’d be able to learn behind two of the best in Frank Gore and LeSean McCoy.
“You talking about a legend. In my mind, having the opportunity to play in the NFL is a blessing in itself. Getting that opporutnity is going to mean a lot to me. At the end of the day, it’s LeSean McCoy, It’s Shady.” he said. “That would be exciting. I’d love to learn from him and love to develop behind him.”
Love knows there is plenty more that he needs to work on and believes he has the mentality to have success at the next level.
“I really just want to be the best at it, the best to ever do it,” he said. ” In my mind, I know I’m far from that. But, just the mindset of being able to work to that point and work to get there. I have that and I’m willing to do it.”
