Bills battle for 2nd cornerback spot

Buffalo Bills

For the most part the starting jobs on the defensive side of the ball are locked up. But there is one job that is very much up in the air, the starting cornerback job on the opposite side of Tre’Davious White. Where Levi Wallace and Kevin Johnson are battling for that starting job.

Sean McDermott: Levi [Wallace] and his growth and story has been well documented for the last couple of weeks. He’s earned that.  What I love about Kevin is that he’s gotten his hands on some footballs the last few weeks here and taken the ball away a few times.  So, his mindset has been impressive just from his mental toughness and his focus at this point.

Kevin Johnson: As a defensive back, especially in this defense, it’s all about getting that ball back to the offense and being a playmaker, being a ball hawk and being a guy that can make plays, so that’s something that I definitely put a big emphasis on, is trying to get my hands on the football.

Levi Wallace: You know those guys come in and their hungry you know, so it just makes me step up my craft and try to master what I do, even at a higher level. But it’s been good, and like I said the receivers have pushed us as well, with John Brown and Cole’s not in right now, but with Rob even coming back, you know, it’s been really good to go against those guys, and they make us better.

Some updates on the wide receiver corp, Cole Beasley and Zay Jones did not practice due to injuries, John Brown was not on hand but these are voluntary OTA’s.
