Bills OC Daboll talks QB and OL

Buffalo Bills

Bills Offensive Coordinator Brian Daboll spoke to the media before the second week of organized team activities (OTA’s) got underway at New Era Field in Orchard Park Tuesday.

Daboll discussed the difference he’s seen in starting quarterback Josh Allen from his rookie season to year two, ” he’s grown mentally, physically, off the field, on the field as a leader and again, it’s a short time, there’s only been three OTA’s. He’s been really helpful for all the new guys, whether it’s the rookies or the new guys we’ve signed, trying to build relationships with them and grow off the field as well as on the field”.

When asked about the rebuilding of the offensive line and how he will handle the new group getting in sync together Daboll said, “you give them as many reps as you can, those guys meet a ton, coach Johnson and Hef and Wendy do a good job with them. You have to be a physical player and move people off the line of scrimmage, but you have to be a player that communicates as well, particularly from inside out so everybody’s on the same page, you give them as many reps as you can, you go through it in training camp, the sooner you can get that ironed out, the better off you will be for all five of those guys.”

“We have to be a better running football team, whether it’s schemes or plays or philosophies, whatever it may be, we’re working through that right now, it’s tougher right now to really practice it, that will happen in training camp, we’ve done a lot of work in the offseason as coaches and when the players get back, so we’ll be working to grind that out., Daboll said of his team’s need to run the ball.
