Reed Between the Lines: The Mysterious Missing McCoy

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB)- Frustration was written all over his face and his voice was soaked in disappointed following Sunday’s loss in Green Bay. This is not how LeSean McCoy expected his 10th season to begin.

The Bills running back was ineffective once again. McCoy has just 21 carries and 8 receptions in three games this season, 29 total touches…that’s it! Last year, LeSean had 27 touches in the first week of the season… a Bills win.

The Bills were a perfect 7-0 in 2017 when McCoy got 20+ carries in a game, a stat that would strongly suggest the offense needs to find a way to get him in rhythm.

The best friend of a young quarteback is a solid running game. LeSean is a player who can help lesson the pressure on Josh Allen.

I realize the Bills have fallen behind in the first half of games and had to pass in the 2nd half but the games were 0-0 when they started. Here’s a thought, get #25 the ball before falling behind by several scores and running isn’t an option. The list of playmakers on the Bills roster is pretty short and LeSean’s name is at the top of that list.
