The Buffalo Bisons jumped out to a two run lead after the first inning, but the Herd were unable to hold on against Pawtucket in the 8-5 loss.
Dwight Smith Jr. opened up the scoring with an RBI double. Vlad Guerrero Jr. brought home Smith Jr. on an RBI single to put the Herd up by two.
Pawtucket would tie the game up in the second inning on a two run home run from Michael Chavis.
In the bottom of the frame, Jonathan Davis hit a solo home run to set a modern era record with his eighth straight hit in his eighth straight at bat.
Roemon Fields would add an RBI single to give the Bisons a two run lead. Pawtucket would score four runs in the sixth inning to take the seven to four lead.
Buffalo would come within two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, but that would be as close as they would get.
Game three of the series is set for Sunday afternoon.
