Late in the third period, Patrick Kane feathered a pass across ice to Sabres captain Jack Eichel, who scored for the second straight game in Team USA’s 3-1 win over Germany on Sunday.
With the victory, the United States advances to the quarterfinals of the IIHF World Championship for the ninth straight year.

Tied at one in the third period, James Van Riemsdyk, who also scored the United States’ first goal, connected with Red Wings star Dylan Larkin for what proved to be the game winning goal.
Eichel and his teammtes wrap up preliminary round action against Canada on Tuesday, before the quarterfinals begin on Thursday, May 23.
