Eichel named Sabres captain

Bogosian & Okposo named alternate captains

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Jack Eichel has been named captain of the Sabres, the team announced on Wednesday.

The Sabres star center joins the ranks of Danny Gare, Gilbert Perreault, Danny Briere and Chris Drury to have the honor of wearing the "C" on the sweater.

Selected 2nd overall in the 2015 NHL Draft, Eichel's eight year, $10 million extension kicks in this season.

In 209 career games the star centerman has tallied 177 points, which includes 73 career goals.  Winger Kyle Okposo and defenseman Zach Bogosian were named alternate captains.

Buffalo begins the season Thursday when they host the Boston Bruins.
