BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Eric Comrie made 40 saves for the Sabres in Thursday night’s 6-3 win at Calgary, following his career-high 46 saves in a 4-2 victory in his hometown of Edmonton.

In doing so Comrie became the first goaltender in Sabres history to record 40 or more saves in consecutive wins.

Comrie, who signed with the Sabres in free agency, has stopped 86 of 91 shots he’s faced over the past two games, good for a .945 save percentage. Signed in free agency to complement 41-year-old goalie Craig Anderson, the 27-year-old Comrie has a .934 save percentage in starting the past three games for the Sabres (3-0-1).

“Where has he been all my life,” said defenseman Rasmus Dahlin, who had a goal and assist, becoming the first defenseman in NHL history to score in each of the first four games to start the season. “He keeps us in the game. He makes especially the D corps so calm because we know he’s going to get the first shot and we just make sure we get the rebounds.”

Along with Anderson’s 36 saves on 37 shots faced in the opening win, Buffalo’s goalies have a .942 save percentage and 2.50 goals-against average through the first four games of the season. The six goalies who started for the Sabres last season combined for an .899 save percentage and 3.28 GAA.

Alex Tuch had his first career hat trick in the win against Calgary. Dylan Cozens and Casey Mittelstadt netted their first goals of the season, and each had an assist. Owen Power tallied two assists for his first multi-point night in 12 NHL games, and first points of the season. Jacob Bryson also had two assists, as defenseman had a part in five of the six Buffalo goals. JJ Peterka assisted on Dahlin’s goal to join Victor Olofsson as the only Sabres rookies to start the season on a four-game point streak.

The Sabres play next at Vancouver on Saturday night, and conclude their four-game road trip Tuesday night in Seattle.
