The Buffalo Sabres outlasted the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-1 Tuesday night to pick up an impressive win.
Jeff Skinner opened up the scoring for Buffalo late in the 1st period to give the Sabres the 1-0 lead. The forward now sits second in the league with 13 goals this season.
Buffalo would head into the first intermission with the one goal lead. Five minutes into the second period, Kyle Oposo tallied his fifth goal of the year to give Buffalo the 2-0 lead.
However, the Sabres lead would be short lived. Just 15 seconds later, Anthony Cirelli beat Carter Hutton to put the Lightning on the board. Tampa Bay outshot the Sabres 14-2 in the second period, but Buffalo still held a one goal lead going into the 3rd period.
Carter Hutton would help the Sabres hang on late in the game when the Bolts pulled their goalie. Hutton finished the night with 30 saves for Buffalo.
The Sabres head to Winnipeg Friday for an 8:00 pm matchup with the Jets.
