Sabres rally past Canucks, earn shootout victory

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Jeff Skinner and Sam Reinhart scored twice in the final minutes of the third period and Casey Mittelstadt tallied the game winner a 4-3 shootout win over the Canucks Saturday afternoon at KeyBank Center.

With an extra attacker and trailing 3-1 in the final period, Reinhart slipped the puck to Skinner who sent his 12th goal of the year over the shoulder of Jacob Markstrom to pull Buffalo within one.

Reinhart added the game-tying goal 40 seconds later, burying a rebound to help force overtime.

Nathan Beaulieu opened the scoring for Buffalo, tipping home a feed from Kyle Okposo for his second goal of the season in the first period.

Carter Hutton once again kept the Blue & Gold in the game, making several huge stops, including a glove save in which he robbed Bo Harvard midway through the second.  He stopped 36 of the 39 shots he faced.
