The season hasn’t officially tipped off, but Nate Oats and the UB Men’s basketball team are already receiving some national recognition.

After setting a school record with 27 wins and upsetting No. 4 seed Arizona in the NCAA Tournament, the Bulls received 14 votes in the Preseason AP Top 25 Poll on Monday.

The win over the Wildcats was UB’s first in program history. It was also the third time in four years the team advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

Despite losing guard Wes Clark to graduation, the Bulls return a bevy of stars and scorers including senior guards CJ Massinburg, Davonta Jordan, Dontay Caruthers, Jeremy Harris and two-time Sixth Man of the Year, Nick Perkins.

They’ll also be joined by freshman and four-star recruit Jeenathan Williams, who was ranked 83rd in Rivals.com Top 150 basketball prospects.

UB tips the season off Nov. 6, against St. Francis.
