Dancing with the Bulls Tournament Special: 1-on-1 with UB head coach Nate Oats

As the UB Men’s basketball team begins to play in the NCAA Tournament, News 4 Sports Director Josh Reed sat down with head coach Nate Oats to chat about his run of success since taking over the program in 2016.

In Oats’ first year as a head coach, the Bulls won the Mid-American Conference Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.  After missing the postseason in 2017, the program has won back-to-back conference titles and is playing in their fourth NCAA Tournament. They also appeared in 2015 under then head coach Bobby Hurley, when Oats was an assistant.

Last year, the Bulls won their first game in the Big Dance, knocking off #4 Arizona in the opening round before falling to Kentucky in the round of the 32.

As a six seed this year, UB believes they can make some noise with five seniors and plenty of depth on the bench.
