BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Pioneer's Mike Rigerman earned Western New York Football's top honors Saturday, when he was named the winner of the 2018 Connolly Cup.
The award is given annually to the top high school player in the region, as voted upon by a selection committee.
Rigerman led WNY with 2,116 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns on the season. He helped lead the Panthers to a 9-1 season, where they made it to the Section 6 final, along with capturing the Class B1 division crown.
On the defensive side of the ball, the linebacker recorded 101 tackles and three interceptions. Rigerman is the first player from Pioneer to win the Connolly Cup.
