After shocking the football world in Minnesota a week ago, the Bills offense looked like the team that was on the field the first six quarters of the season.

Josh Allen, who received praise for his stellar play on the road against the Vikings, looked every bit like a rookie and was out-dueled by Aaron Rodgers, who tossed for  298 yards and a touchdown in a 22-0 victory Sunday afternoon at Lambeau Field.

It’s the first time since 2008 the Bills have been shutout in a game as their record falls to 1-3 overall.

Allen, who was sacked seven times, completed just 16 of his 33 attempts for 151 yards and at one point had eight straight incompletions in the first half before connecting with Kelvin Benjamin on a 34 yard gain late in the second quarter.

With the Bills in prime position to get on the board and cut into the Packers’ 13-0 lead, Allen tried to throw across his body in the endzone but was intercepted.  The Packers made good on their extra opportunity, marching down for a field goal to open up a 16-0 halftime lead.

Things would continue to spiral downward in the second half.  Facing 3rd-and-18 on their opening drive of the third quarter, Allen tried to squeeze a ball into Benjamin down the sideline.  Cornerback Ha Ha Clinton-Dix arrived at the same time, came up with the interception and knocked the wide receiver out of the game with a head injury.  Benjamin would later return in the fourth quarter.

For the most part the Bills defense did their job even though they struggled to stop the Packers on third down and also and missed several opportunities for turnovers.

In total, Green Bay converted 11 of their 19 third downs, while the Bills managed to go just 3-for-16.

Trailing 13-0 in the first quarter, Jordan Poyer picked off Rodgers and returned it inside Bills territory.  However, the offense was forced to punt.

On the Packers’ second possession of the third quarter, Tre White missed an opportunity at an interception as did Ryan Lewis, who could have easily been returned the pass for a touchdown to cut into Green Bay’s 19-0 lead.

Rookie Taron Johnson also forced a fumble in the fourth quarter to give the Bills back to the offense at the 49 yard line. However, Allen and the offense were forced to punt again.

The Bills return home Sunday to host the Tennessee Titans. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at New Era Field.
