Niagara Hockey Bests Canisius 5-2

It may have been cold and snowy outside Thursday night, but HarborCenter was heating up as Niagara University and Canisius College combined for four goals in the first period. Niagara would score three unanswered to win the first “Battle of the Bridge” 5-2.

Dylan Mills opened up the scoring for the Purple Eagles just 1:14 into the game to give Niagara the 1-0 lead. Noah Delmas would add a goal less than two minutes later to put Niagara up 2-0.

With just under 5:00 to play in the first period, Canisius would get on the board on the power play as Austin Alger played cleanup duty in front. Just 24 seconds later Nick Hutchinson would light the lamp for Canisius to tie the game 2-2.

In the opening minutes of the second period, Mills scored his second goal of the game for Niagara. The Purple Eagles would add two goals in the third from Ludwig Stenlund and Johnny Curran. Niagara moves to 5-5-1 on the season. Canisius drops to 4-6-0.
