Nick Perkins poured in a game-high 20 points and snagged 11 rebounds to help lift the No. 14 ranked Bulls past Southern Illinois, 73-65 Saturday afternoon at Alumni Arena.
With the win, Buffalo improved to 10-0 to earn it’s best start since the 1930-1931 season.
CJ Massinburg added 14 while Davonta Jordan chipped in with 11 for UB, which had to overcome it’s second worst shooting effort from beyond the arc.
UB ended the first half having only hit three of their 21 attempts, and finished the game shooting 7-for-30 (23.2%) from distance. They went 7-for-34 (20.6%) in their season opening victory over St. Francis.
The Bulls also went more than seven minutes without a field goal in the first half as the Salukis trimmed away at the Bulls’ 19 point lead to pull within 33-28 at the break.
Buffalo will look for an 11-0 start Tuesday when they travel to face #25 Syracuse, which lost to unranked Old Dominion on Saturday.
