Montell McRae was nearly perfect from the floor, connecting on  eight of his nine shots to help power the No. 2 ranked UB Bulls to a 74-58 win over Eastern Michigan to open Mid-American Conference play on Friday.

The senior finished with a career-high 18 points as the Bulls also improve to 13-1 overall (1-0 MAC).

Buffalo struggled out of the gate and trailed 12-9 before McRae took control.

Over the next five minutes, McRae would score the Bulls’ next 12 points and go 5-for-5 from the floor as they opened up a 21-15 lead.  UB would ultimately lead 33-23 at the break.

That lead would balloon to open the second stanza as UB used a 26-8 run to take a 54-31 lead with a little more than 12 minutes to play.

CJ Massinburg finished with 12 points while Nick Perkins chipped in with 15 off the bench.  UB are back in action against Toledo on Tuesday.

The Rockets (12-2) lost to Ball State 79-64 at home on Friday.
