OP’s Abby Torgerson wins MLB’s Pitch, Hit & Run competition

Among the 650,000 kids that tried to qualify for MLB’s Pitch, Hit & Run competition in Washington D.C., Orchard Park’s Abby Torgerson was one of a handful to qualify for the finals.

In her final year eligible to compete, the teenage won the competition, taking home the title in the 13-14 year old age group.

The event consists of trying to pitch and hit a target 35 feet away, hitting to center field for distance and running from second to home.

Abby was also one of the players on the field catching baseballs during MLB’s Home Run Derby Monday night at Nationals Park.
