With Marco Scandella sidelined with a lower body injury, the Sabres have called up Lawrence Pilut from Rochester, the team announced on Wednesday.

They’ve also placed Patrik Berglund on injured reserve with an upper body injury.

Scandella left Monday’s comeback win against the Penguins after blocking a shot from Evgeni Malkin.  He was on the ice for morning skate, but later skated off and did not return.

Pilut, who was named the SHL’s defenseman of the year in Sweden last season, has taken the American League by storm in his first year and currently leads the league in scoring with 22 points. His 19 assists also pace the AHL.
